Save the Workies

Local business appeal

Put your business behind the Workies.

Choose £20, £50 or £100 a month. Every level puts your logo on the campaign website and, if the Workies is saved through the community plan, inside the building as a permanent thank-you.

For good: your logo and link on this website, plus your logo displayed inside the Workies if the community rescue succeeds and the building reopens.

Cancel any time. If monthly pledges do not reach £2,500 by 1 September, payments are refunded and pledges are cancelled. Stripe handles the payments securely. Nothing is paid to the current club committee.

Sam Thompson is a television and radio presenter. Millions know him from ITV’s I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, which he won in 2023. When he heard what was happening to the 133-year-old Workies, he chose to record this appeal for Tumble.

The story is travelling

Even the English are singing Yma o Hyd.

Ryan Libbey, from Made in Chelsea, heard the miners’ story, learned the chorus in his car and sent us this. It is funny, but it tells you something serious: people far beyond Tumble want this community to win. Surely local businesses can stand behind it too.

The story is moving.

More than 11,500 unique visitors have reached the campaign website since tracking began on 19 July. Sam Thompson has shared the appeal. We have spoken with BBC Wales and That's TV Swansea, while ITV Wales and S4C have also contacted the campaign. Further coverage and contributor videos are being discussed, but are not guaranteed.

Your recognition is simple: your name, logo and link on the campaign’s business wall, plus public thanks through channels we control. If the community rescue succeeds and the Workies reopens, your logo will also be displayed inside the building as a permanent thank-you. We cannot promise that any broadcaster will feature a particular business.
